Elizabeth Krisciunas

November 30, 1922 - July 28, 2010

Elizabeth Krisciunas, 87, of Danbury, wife of the late Leonas Krisciunas, died at Pope John Paul Center for Health Care on Wednesday, July 28th. She was born in Uzhoragard, Czechoslovakia on November 30, 1922, daughter of the late John and Barbara Dzamko.

Elizabeth and Leonas both escaped from Russian domination. Leonas had left Lithuania. In the aftermath of World War II, they met in Munich, Germany where Leonas was working in a displaced persons’ camp. They moved to Heusden Belgium where Irene was born and arrived in the United States in 1952 through the sponsorship of relatives living in the Danbury area.

Elizabeth worked as an inspector for Davis & Geck in Danbury and was a parishioner of St. Nicholas Church. She devoted her life to her family and loved to garden, knit and cook.

She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Irene Krisciunas of Danbury.

Funeral Information

Funeral of the Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, August 2nd at 10:00am at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 13 Pembroke Road, Danbury, with Rev. Michael Popson officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Sunday, August 1st between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00pm.

Thank you to all the staff of Pope John Paul Center. These kind people cared for her needs during her stay and became her extended family.
