Emil C. Samuelson

Emil C. Samuelson, 87, of Danbury, loving husband of the late Rose Marie (Latronica) Samuelson, died Tuesday, January 31st at Danbury Hospital. Emil was born on December 1, 1924 in Manhattan, NY, son of the late Albert and Anna (Anderson) Samuelson.

He was a Veteran of World War II and Korea, and was a survivor of Iwo Jima. He proudly served with the United States Marine Corp, 5th Mar Div.

He later worked as a mechanical engineer for several companies. He was a member of the Marine Corp League, and served on the Danbury Veterans Council. He was honored to be named Grand Marshall of the Memorial Day Parade in both Danbury and Ridgefield.

Most importantly, Emil was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. His family was the center of his life and he was happiest spending time with those he loved.

He will be sadly missed by his two children, Donna Marnelakis and her husband Pete of Danbury and Dwayne Samuelson of New Milford; three grandchildren, Christine Marnelakis, Austin and Devin Samuelson; two brothers, Eddie Samuelson and his wife Ruth and Albert Samuelson; one sister, Astrid Bucca as well as several nieces and nephews. Emil was predeceased by his sister, Alice Fiore and brother, Peter Samuelson.

Funeral Information

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday, February 4th at St. Gregory the Great Church, 85 Great Plain Rd., Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 PM on Friday, February 3rd at Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury.
